A Market Shift to High-Quality Textile Calender Felts / Calender Blanket
Recently, we received a surge in inquiries regarding our textile calender felts / calender blanket. (These calender felts are used to process knitted fabric in order to get luster and softness, working on calender machine brands like DongNam, ANDRITZ, UNITECH, Guoguang... etc.) Customers are requesting higher quality—including our regular customers, who have accepted higher prices without any hesitation. Why is this happening?
As we knew, textile calender felt has been around for a long time, however, there still hasn’t been a perfect one. Traditional calender felt has various problems—let's summarize them to see if you have encountered these issues:
1. Surface fiber shedding and loose fuzz appear after even a few weeks of working, resulting in the calender felt becoming unusable;
2. Dyes easily penetrate the felt, and chemical agents corrode it, causing bald spots;
3. Felt surface wrinkling;
4. Short lifespan—fails to last even three months.
What causes these issues?
Traditional calender felts typically use 100% polyester material. The advantage is low cost; however, polyester fibers have a short lifespan and poor dye resistance. When problems occur, the costs to customers extend far beyond downtime for replacement—you also lose money on logistics, customs duties, and more. This chain reaction of costs is far more expensive.
Nowadays, in the pursuit of faster work efficiency, traditional calendering felt no longer meets demands. Therefore, customers urgently need a new calendering felt that solves the above problems and reduces downtime.
Our Next-Generation Solution
Our technical team, after considerable deliberation, has developed and tested a new calendering felt. We have incorporated aramid(nomex) and special fibers into the material, with a distinctive surface optimization treatment.
• Aramid provides corrosion resistance and excellent toughness, preventing fiber breakage from chemical dye corrosion.
• The specially treated surface reduces dye penetration and fiber shedding.
• Most importantly, the lifespan extends well beyond three months.
Based on customer purchasing cycles, we are confident that they are working with our new calender felts exceeded six months !
